John Mattone has been named the world's #1 Coaching Authority by GlobalGurus.org six times in seven years, ahead of names like Tony Robbins, Brenda Bence, and Peter Chee. His Intelligent Leadership methodology has certified more than 750 coaches worldwide.
His offline reputation was unmatched. His online presence was not keeping pace.
The Challenge
When we started working together in 2024, johnmattone.com was in decline. The site ranked in the top 3 for only 115 keywords globally, despite 361 blog posts and decades of thought leadership.
At the same time, Google was changing. AI Overviews started appearing in search results. ChatGPT and Perplexity were becoming places where executives researched coaches. John's expertise was invisible in all of them.
Across the industry, established institutions were losing 35 to 65 percent of their organic search traffic. The old playbook was breaking down.
What We Did
We started with a full audit of all 361 existing blog posts. Years of technical debt had accumulated: broken images, inconsistent formatting, weak internal linking, and content that was competing with itself for the same search terms.
We cleaned up the foundation first. Then we restructured the site's content around John's core areas of expertise: Intelligent Leadership, executive coaching, CEO development, and executive presence. The goal was topical authority so deep that both Google and AI search tools would recognize John as a primary source.
We published new content monthly, but the real leverage came from making existing work perform the way it should have been performing all along. In early 2026, we deployed a complete website rebuild: new design, new lead magnet infrastructure, and a conversion system built to turn search visibility into actual coaching inquiries.
John and his team did not have to learn SEO, manage the process, or change their schedule. The system runs in the background while they focus on coaching.
The Results
In the first five months, organic search traffic grew 4.4x. When AI Overviews and algorithm changes hit the coaching industry in 2025, reducing traffic across major institutions by 35 to 65 percent, we shifted focus from traffic volume to ranking depth and AI visibility. The result: 13x more top-3 keyword rankings and 626 AI Overview appearances, even as the industry contracted.

Within the first 17 days of March 2026, the website generated more leads than any prior full month, tracking to a 173% increase over the three-month pre-launch average. The daily lead rate accelerated week over week, confirming this was not a launch spike but a structural improvement.
The website became the single largest source of executive coaching pipeline opportunities, contributing 46% of all business development opportunities and more than $50,000 in pipeline value. A lead magnet system built from scratch (anchored by a downloadable ebook of John's “50 Laws of Intelligent Leadership”) created a scalable top-of-funnel that did not exist before.
